~Mission Statement~

 

The Middle School Mathematics Program at Foote School is dedicated to developing mathematical thinking and abstract reasoning skills while continuing to build and consolidate mathematics skills established in earlier grades.

A specific curriculum which adheres to the guidelines established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), guides instruction.  A variety of resources, including appropriate technology, are incorporated.

Individual needs are recognized and accommodated through in-class enrichment, opportunities for additional instruction outside-of-class time and personally designed provisions for unique cases.

In their mathematical experiences in the Middle School at Foote, students’ mathematical self-confidence and sense of self-efficacy are fostered, while more general organizational and study skills are developed.

The overall goal of the Middle School Mathematics Program is to provide opportunities so that all students can feel success in their mathematical efforts, can be prepared for their future mathematics courses and can enjoy the excitement that the study of mathematics can bring.
