We just finished our Independent Reading Projects. We presented them on December 10th and 11th. First, everybody choose to read one of three books: Hatchet, My Side of the Mountain, or Island of the Blue Dolphins. All of these books had something in common: a theme. That theme was survival!

After reading the book, we had to make a projected based on what we read. Then we brought them in and shared them with the class. There were many different projects. Some people made dioramas, others created journals, some made posters, and some people dressed up as characters from the book. The projects showed that you understood the book! The presentations explained what you made for your project and why you did it. It was a very fun project, especially if you enjoyed reading the book. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did.
